Gagg Family history Misterton and Hull family trees

14th May 2006. t John Gagg  born in 1759  the son of William and Amie in this tree is the John Gagg that married Elizabeth Topott and gave the Topott Gagg name to the 'London family.

so  the London tree can be joined to this one, giving us the largest single Gagg family group  and making us that much nearer to joining all the Gagg families together

This information has just come from  a request I made to Joan Mason (related through the London family) in Canada and with the details she gave and requests to  the rootsweb list I have managed to

integrate the various bits of information  to this point.

These are the family trees of the Misterton-Notts Gagg's And the Hull Gaggs
Three of our current Families-Andrew's- Richard's & Peter Gagg's   Have now been linked into the Misterton Tree*
Richards family came from Misterton/Retford & moved to Sheffield, Andrews family came from Misterton ,moved to Sheffield & then returned to Misterton.
Peter's family came from Misterton went to Sheffield with the rest of the family migration  which was after 1865 & before 1880 then Peters family went to Hull.
Some parts of the Gagg family returned to Misterton. Some remain there still, whilst others moved into other parts
of the country thus continuing the family tradition.
Info on the other families is in the process of being collated ,We thought that the Family originated in Devon as the earliest Gagg we had found was a Gagg Family in Barnstable-Devon in approx the 1560's & a large
contingent of Gagg's were in that area & spreading out from the early 1600's.
London's earliest entry was thought to be approx 1590- 1600 -George Gagg
Since then  we have found that the earliest Gagg so far is around 1540 in London, see early London tree*
Other areas earliest entries are  around the 1600's. The earliest Gagg of all that we have found so far is Ralph Gagg born in Leicestershire around 1280-90. He is listed in a land deed in 1315 in Nottinghamshire. Misterton?
Boxes highlighted in yellow denote the male line carrying the Gagg name forward.
