On the 24th of
October 2006 I received a phone call from my my gt aunt
Frances's son Colin telling
me that Frances had died in her home. On behalf of the
Gagg families all over the world I offer our thoughts and
prayers for Colin, Pam and their children.
I had been
speaking to her on the previous Friday ,she was suffering from a
chest infection and was feeling rather poorly, she was looking
forward though to her brother Fred reaching 98 years of
age on sunday 22nd October. She was going to phone me on
the monday , unfortunately Friday was the last time I got to
speak to her.
Frances was
my granddads youngest sister born 11th June 1918 ,she and her
brother Fred were the only surviving members of my granddad's
family .
Frances had a
great sense of humour and enjoyed the give and take
of the family humour.
My nickname
for her was Miriam and she called me Archibald.Whenever she
phoned I would call her Miriam and she would laugh and say '
wait till get hold of you, I whack you with m y stick'.
She enjoyed
the banter with people and when I took my uncle Chris
,aunt Marji and uncle Fred over to see her she would laugh at
the antics of Chris and Joke with me and Fred and sympathise
with Marji at being part of this family.
Frances
along with other members of the family gave me much of the
information and photos that make up a lot of this website. She
would tel me the stories of growing up in this large family
about her brothers and sisters, the love she had for them all,
especially Nell and Fred.
Her dearest
wish over the last couple of years was to see 'her Fred'
get his 100th birthday telegram from the queen.
I think that
two years from now she will be looking down and cheering Fred
on.
